This year the Yankees moved "The House that Ruth Built" across the street opening a new $1.5 billion dollar stadium in the Bronx. Charles and his dad were lucky enough to be at the new stadium on Wednesday night to watch the Yankees beat the rival Philadelphia Phillies to clinch their 27th World Series title! "The Babe" looked on from the huge outfield screen.
Yankee captain Derek Jeter and 2nd baseman Robinson Cano warm up before the game. This year they broke a baseball record becoming the first shortstop-2nd baseman combo to each have over 200 hits in the same season. Jeter also joined Babe Ruth and Yogi Bera as the only players to bat over .300 in 5 world series'.
Andy Pettitte throws the first pitch. Charles and G-Pop scored great seats for the night of a lifetime!
The outfield screen showed Alicia Keys and Jay-Z singing the Yankees' playoff theme song "Empire State of Mind" - sparking a rally in the next inning.
World Series MVP Hideki Matsui smacks a two run double to put the Yankees up 7 -1. Matsui was a monster, bating .651 and tying a world series record with six RBIs in one game. I guess that's why his nickname is "Godzilla".
Future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera throws the last pitch to end the game. Rivera has the most saves and best ERA of any pitcher in playoff history.
Bedlam in the Bronx as the players and fans go wild!! Nice to see someone with the early Thanksgiving spirit! An hour after the game the only empty seats were the ones vacated by Phillies fans. Charles and G-Pop stayed late into the night soaking it all in.
They enjoyed being serenaded by Spiderman on the way to the subway to go home. The stadium speakers blasted Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" for over two hours after the game and Spidey played right along.
When they finally got home after 2am, fans were still celebrating in the streets and every tree on our block had streamers. I was kept up most of the night with chants of "Let's Go Yankees". It was worth it!
Here's the much adored tree at Rockefeller Center. To beat the massive crowds, we went early in the morning while the rest of New York was hungover. Madi kept looking at the tree and saying "Wow!".

To kick off the holidays we had Kayla and Kourtney (Madi's first cousins twice removed) over to decorate Christmas cookies. Kayla is quite a confectioners artiste.
Kourtney and Madi had a good time doing puzzles.
Then we had Lauren and Van visiting from Alabama. Van's adorable sister Suzy lives in Brooklyn. We had a great time with all of them. Van speaks fluent Cantonese and was able to use it in Chinatown. 
Lauren and Madi are cousins who are 21 years apart...but playtime knows no age...especially when your as good with kids as Lauren is.
After that Akayleighia (Madi's other cousin) and Brandon dropped by from Boston. Luckily they are already used to cold weather and were fearless adventurers in the city. Akayleighia also found her lost luggage --- a miracle on 31st street!
